Old Fashioned Ice Cream and Soda Shop

Come enjoy the old time ambiance of an early 1900’s ice cream parlor. The menu features more than 30 soda syrup flavors for a handcrafted soda. Soft Serve and hard ice cream in a variety of flavors with toppings to make that perfect sundae, shake or malt. Hungry? The Vault Creamery offers sandwiches and as the weather turns colder, they will have soups on hand to warm the soul. Outdoor seating under umbrella's is a fun feature as is the bathroom… truly unique, it is built with kids in mind! Summer hours: Open Mon-Thur, 11 am-9 pm; Fri & Sat, 11 am-10 pm. Call for winter hours.

The Vault Creamery was created within the historical building it is located; The Leonard Building. Thomas and Kate Leonard were real estate agents and had founded the city of Itasca. When the county seat was moved to Goodland, the Leonard’s purchased the first two lots, situated on the northeast corner of 10th and Main. Leonard moved a two-story wood frame hotel from Itasca and placed it on the south lot. He then built a brick office building on the north lot. It was constructed very similar to the hotel with two stories, plate glass windows with two halves for two businesses. There was a fire in the hotel on Aug. 14, 1902 that destroyed the hotel and the brick building to the north as well as other buildings. There was no vault in the brick building but only a small safe. The safe did not survive but the contents did and since the Leonard’s were abstractors and had titles and other important documents, they decided to build a fireproof vault in the new building. The building has been home to many businesses since then.

Tim and Amy are the fifth owners of the building since 1889. Tim, Amy and their staff would like to extend a sincere invitation to anyone who loves ice cream to come in and sit for a spell, enjoy an old-fashioned ice cream soda and visit.
